Chronic spinal problems cause me to walk in a way that causes my left ankle to hurt. Physical therapy would solve the ankle problem...but, in reality, I'm certain PT would move the pain somewhere else. I wear this brace daily since my orthopedist gave me one when he saw me for ankle pain. The brace he provided had "speed laces" - instead of pulling on the laces themselves, there are two tabs - one of which is on each side of the brace. I've come to prefer the conventionally laced one as I have better control of how tight the brace is all along its' length.
The brace does a very good job of reducing my discomfort. It's easy to put on and sufficiently thin that I can put on my shoes. Although the manufacturers' instructions tell you to hand wash the brace, I've been washing it in little laundry bags for washing delicate items with no adverse effect. I keep rotating my braces through the laundry and find that use of this brace is a good solution to this problem.
